We’ve been talking about what it truly means to be a community and what sort of actions cultivate a belonging to said community.
The word community or comunidad, in Spanish, comes from the Latin word communitas and means, “a group of people who live and share a common interest and set of values under the same set of social norms”.
Just like when we share the ball during a soccer game, together, we all share the act of service. Several of us got together to mow the grass on the field we play on twice a week and many of the members of Lopez Community Fútbol came out and helped pick up all the grass clippings in order to care for our communal space.
Thank you to everyone who helped, thought about helping or plans to help in the future.
We appreciate you.
